Earn While You Learn: The Complete Guide to German Ausbildung for Indians in 2026

Are you looking for a career path that offers practical skills, a monthly salary from day one, and a guaranteed job in Germany? Ausbildung (dual vocational training) is the answer.

In Germany, "Dual" means you spend 70% of your time working at a company and 30% studying at a vocational school. At Dream2Europe, we have helped hundreds of Indians transition from Class 12 or ITI diplomas into high-paying German careers through this system.

Popular Types of Ausbildung in 2026

Germany offers over 300 types of vocational training. Here are the top sectors for Indian applicants:

SectorTop Professions Average Monthly Stipend

Healthcare Nursing (Pflegefachmann), Dental Assistant €1,100 – €1,400

IT & Tech IT Specialist, Software Developer €1,000 – €1,200

Engineering Mechatronics, Automotive Technician €1,050 – €1,300

Hospitality Chef, Hotel Management €900 – €1,100

The Step-by-Step Process for Indian Applicants

Step 1: Master the Language (B1/B2)

This is the most critical step. Since you will be working in a German company and studying in a German school, you need at least a B1 level (B2 is preferred for nursing).

Step 2: Secure an Ausbildung Contract (Ausbildungsvertrag)

You must apply directly to German companies. Once you pass the interview, you will receive a training contract stating your salary, start date, and training plan. This is your "Admission Letter" for the visa.

Step 3: APS Certificate (If Required)

While primarily for university students, some specialized vocational programs now ask for the APS certificate to verify your Indian 10th/12th mark sheets.

Step 4: Financial Proof (Blocked Account)

If your monthly stipend is above €934 (net), you generally do not need a blocked account. If it is lower, you must show the difference in a blocked account or through a sponsor.

Step 5: Apply for the National Visa (Type D)

Once you have your signed contract, book your appointment at VFS Global for the German Embassy.
